Studio FAQs & Rates

Anyone can record at 2200 Studios. We welcome both independent artists and those signed to record labels, hosting talent from around the world.

Rates

• Studio A and Studio B: $150/hour, including an assistant and runner.

Deposit

• A 50% deposit is required to secure your session.
• Until the deposit is received, your session remains tentative and may be booked by another client.
• Deposits are non-refundable and will be applied to your session cost.

Scheduling & Session Times

• The studio operates 24/7 for sessions.
• A Day Rate covers a 10-hour block, including setup time.
• Any time exceeding 10 hours is billed as overtime at 1.5x the hourly rate.
• Setup time is not included unless paid for in advance as additional studio time.
• Billing starts at your scheduled time, regardless of arrival.
• Clients may arrive no more than 30 minutes before their scheduled session.

Rescheduling

• Changes to session dates or start times must be made at least 48 hours in advance and are subject to availability.

Cancellation Policy

• Sessions canceled within 24 hours of the start time will be billed in full.

Payment Terms

• Full payment is due at the end of each session.
• Accepted payment methods: Major credit cards, cash, and bank transfers.

We regularly work with outside engineers and welcome them.

We regularly tune the pianos in both studios. However, if you have specific sound preferences, we recommend having the piano tuned before your session. The tuning fee is $250. Please contact us upon booking to schedule this service.

2200 Studios is a world-class destination studio. When you book a session, you will be provided with an assistant engineer who is highly familiar with the space. Their role includes setup, direct session support, and breakdown.

Yes! We offer an exclusive discount for clients at Hotel Acqua—let us know if you're interested.

Additionally, there are several hotels in Marin County and Airbnb options in San Rafael.

Please note: Clients are not permitted to sleep at the studio.

Yes, we offer a full kitchen with a lounge, refrigerator, electric oven/range, microwave, toaster and coffee maker.

Guests

Due to the historical and sensitive
nature of our recording spaces, facility, and equipment, we enforce a strict
no-guests policy.

• Guests are defined as anyone not directly involved in the recording process in a significant way.
• Studio staff have the final discretion on who may enter the building.

Filming & Photography

• Sessions requiring a professional film crew of more than one person are subject to our Film Session Rate of 2x the standard studio rate.
• All filmed sessions must be pre-approved by the studio before booking.
• Same-day film or photography crews will not be permitted without prior approval from the studio manager.
• A Camera Release Authorization must be completed and signed by both parties before filming.

Smoking Policy

• Smoking is strictly prohibited indoors.
• A cleaning fee will be charged for violations of this policy.

Damages

• Clients assume full responsibility for any damage to studio equipment or furnishings caused by misuse or accident.

File Management & Liability

• Clients are responsible for the storage and backup of all recorded media.
• 2200 Studios is not liable for any theft, loss, or damage of equipment or data brought to or left on the premises.
• Please bring your own SSD and backup to ensure data security.
